Every bed should have a real mattress
and pillow set. I hate glued down bedding and try and keep mine as real as possible. I use fine striped materials
to give the ticking effect.
I stuff the mattresses with wadding
or bird sand.
When it comes to sheets etc, then I like lace or frills and
of course antiqued bedding for realism.
There are many polycottons on the market in various shades that
help create the perfect colour match for any room.
The reasons for making real pillow cases and sheets
enables you to dress or stage your room by crumpling the sheets etc. Or even have your lady of the house or maid stripping
the bed in one room.
"The Cotswold Quilt"
takes it's name from the quaint area of the Cotswolds, abundantly enriched with chocolate box houses and is a traditionally
pieced quilt. Delicate patterned cottons help to create a design in two colours with a larger border.
Lap or full quilts can be made using this design.

Hand Embroidered Bed Spreads can add
a touch of glamour.
If you are dressing an historical
house, then blackwork stitching could add realism.
This Quilt was made for a Project
in the Dolls House and Miniature Scene Magazine. Delightful to make and stunning on a bed in an old cottage.
