As a group project with the famous
Gsolfot Club, we all had to create a room box with the title "A Corner of Your life" I chose to depict a scene from
my favourite book "The Wind in The Willows". My scale was 1/24th and I chose Mole's place! It was my first attempt
at 1/24th and the beginning of a love affair with the scale. I split the box into two levels and made a comfortable
home using the books text as reference. I am still to complete the outside of the box and am continually adding to the
inside.
I decided to build a Boathouse/shed for Ratty as he spends most
of his life on the river. I used a flat pack kit by Chris Parker and kit bashed it to make it look old.
To me Ratty would have been a scavenger and therefore would
have saved every bit of junk that came his way.
I had great fun filling the inside of the shed with all
kinds of bits and bobs. Again it is in 1/24th scale.
As my Brother in law is difficult
to buy for and an avid musician to the cost of everything else, I created the roomboxes for him and his partner.
"Living the Dream" is a room dedicated
to his life style and music
"Living the nightmare" is his partners
life as he lives his! I had no concience in sending these boxes I thought I captured their life styles perfectly!!!!
When my Mother in Law saw the boxes she was enthralled and so
her birthday present was easy!
I made her a little box depicting her life too!
My mum collects Teddy Bears, so taking an old frame I made a
framed box for her, with the teddies getting upto all kinds of things at their picnic.
This is a good idea if space is at a premium.
