32 years of happy marriage down the line
and we are still heading in the same direction, full steam ahead!
It was obvious from the beginning that we
were meant for each other as no one else would put up with the madness and mayhem that has filled our happy lives.
Tim's Tale
As a child Tim carefully collected his pocket
money until he was able to afford one of the many precious engines for his Railway layout.
With his money clutched tightly in his hand
he would head to Sheffield to the large stores to make his choice.
However when teenage years overtook his
life so did the need for cash for the usual cars, girls and socializing! The railway collection was sold! One
of the few regrets Tim has in his life.
When we married he started the search to
rebuild his collection and from that day in 1974 he still continues to collect.
Oh yes, he found models from his original
layout and even managed to find the guy he sold his engines to, he still had them in his loft! He was quite moved by
Tim's plight and sold them back to him!
His collection is now quite something and
he loves it! At the moment he is working on a convertion to house his layout as he is not a box collector but loves
to run his engines and stock!
He visits shops, swap meets and antique
shops in his search for that "ultimate" piece he needs! To finance his hobby he sells his excess and so the "junction"
half is born!
Meet Glynis!
Unable to cook, but a dab hand with a duster
and a hoover, I had been on the look out for a hobby for the whole of my life! I have a cupboard full
of unfinished air brained ideas but not until we moved to the cottage here in Lincolnshire did I truly
find the ultimate in hobbies.
In 2001 Tim bought me a Doll's House
for my birthday. I had always wanted one as a child but money was not in plentiful supply and unlike my better
half , I am not a saver!
In 2001 I started my Victorian
House, but found I wanted more space, more rooms, more this and more that! Needless to say we added on to the Victorian
"Lilybank". Then I found a beautiful Tudor house, oh and then there was the furniture and the furnishings. Yes
I was hooked! Through this hobby I have met and made many friends and artisans. These people have kept
me going through the many stages of this hobby and the projects I take on.
As work began on Lilybank I was encouraged
to share my work and had many requests to make quilts and curtains and so "Jasmine" joined the Junction.
I have recently been lucky enough to write
articles for Dolls House Magazines, so sharing the ideas that burst into my head in the early hours of the morning!
It is a pleasure and a privilege to share
my hobby with you, please browse through the pages and enjoy.
May you each have the joy of the hobby
of your choice.
Footnote From Glynis
16 Years ago I was diagnosed with
Multiple Sclerosis and given little hope of a normal lifestyle.
As I had never been a normal person this
did not bother me at all, and I have continued to live my life as best I can with the frequent interruption of all sorts of
nasty bits which you just would not want to read about.
The point of this footnote is to say a big
thank you to Tim my husband, and Matt our son. They are fantastic and have taken all my problems on board, treated me
to first class all the way. Tim is my driver and Matt my guard! They are the ultimate Dream Team and I love them
both dearly .
Thank you Guys!
